Thursday August, 19 2010 @ 19:59:41 Nature: Structure Fire (Electrical Fire) Address: 28405 Nanticoke Ave Millsboro, DE 19966 On Thursday evening, August 19th, the Indian River, Millsboro and Lewes fire companies were alerted for a structure fire on Nanticoke Avenue in Riverdale. It was reported to be an electrical fire involving the incoming residential power lines to the residential structure. Indian River’s Duty Officer – Joseph H. It was estimated for arrival time of 30 minutes. Engine #80-1 was assigned to utilize their dry chemical fire extinguisher and attempt to suppression the fire. This process was not overly successful; however, it did allow for recovery time for the power company to arrive. Other responding units were requested to retrieve and deliver the dry chemical and CO fire extinguishers to the scene. Other crews were to check the attic areas for extension; ventilation of the interior structure; and evaluate the interior and exterior of the structure. Crews from Millsboro and Lewes were utilized on-scene prior to being requested for standby coverage at Station #1 and Station #2. The Delaware State Fire Marshal is investigating.
