Story
Sunday July, 4 2010 @ 16:57:14 Nature: Water Rescue Priority Location: Red & White Boat & an all White Boat Address: Coordinates: 038 36'42 & 075 06'56 On Sunday afternoon, the Indian River, Dagsboro, & Millsboro volunteer fire companies, United States Coast Guard, the Delaware Department of Natural Resources & Environmental Control (DNREC) – Marine Police; the Sussex County Paramedics; as well as the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit (Trooper #2), were alerted for a water rescue priority incident in the Indian River Bay near White House Beach. It was reported that two vessels collided and medical assistance was needed at the scene of the incident location at coordinates of latitude of 038 36'42 and longitude of 075 06'56 The Indian River Marine Units responded to the White House Beach Boat Ramp and launched their respective vessels. 80 Marine Unit #2 was underway to assist DNREC with this incident. All responding apparatus was redirected to Pot Nets Bayside Beach and Marina area to facilitate a better transition with the DNREC vessels. The DNREC vessel coordinated a side tow scenario while some of the occupants were provided with appropriate medical attention. The Delaware State Police Aviation Unit hovered nearby until it was determined that their services would not be needed. It appears that a white vessel ran into the rear of the red/white vessel and there was patient injuries on the vessel. The Trooper 2 Aviation was not needed and released as was the Millsboro and Dagsboro volunteer fire company vessels. The occupants that needed medical attention were transported to nearby medical facilities via the local emergency medical services provider. The United States Coast Guard and the DNREC Marine Police are investigating.
