Thursday May, 13 2010 @ 14:59:31 Nature: Traffic/Transportation Acdnt BLS Address: 26423 Mount Joy Rd., Millsboro, DE 19966 On Thursday, May 13th, while providing stand-by coverage for the Millsboro Fire Companym we were alerted for a motor vehicle collision on Mount Joy Road (County Road #297). Engine #80-1 made a response with a staffing level of seven (7) personnel along with Rescue 83's crew. Emergency response units arrived on location to find a single vehicle that had struck an utility pole and continued traveling for approximately a mile before coming to a complete stop. It appears that the vehicle was attempting to the leave the scene of the accident. The vehicle had two occupants with one subject being trapped. Incident command was coordinated by Lou Talley, #83-18 of Millsboro Fire Company. The emergency response crews were assigned to provide and assist with patient care, removal of the door in order to extricate the trapped occupant, and establish a secured landing zone for the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit (Trooper 2). One occupant of the vehicle was flown to Christiana Hospital and the other occupant was provided ground transportation to nearby medical facilities in Lewes, Delaware. The Delaware State Police are investigating the incident.
