Story
Sunday March, 21 2010 @ 01:50:37 Nature: Traffic/TransportationAcdntALS Address: 34256 High Tide Dr N Millsboro, DE 19966 Early Sunday morning of March 21st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company, the Sussex County Paramedics, and the Delaware State Police Trooper 2 Aviation Unit was alerted for a personal injury vehicle on High Tide Drive North in the Pot Nets Creekside development off of Long Neck Road. It was reported that vehicle ran into a residential structure and the occupant of the vehicle was potentially trapped in the vehicle. Indian River’s Duty Officer Ryan Mock responded to the incident and identified a Chevrolet Pick-up traveling north on High Tide Drive North left the roadway for an undetermined reason, traveled through a few vacant residential parcels and perimeter fencing before striking a manufactured home that was occupied. The residents of the manufactured home were asleep at the time of the incident and did suffer some minor injuries associated with falling debris. Duty Officer Mock identified that there was not any patient entrapment, the occupant of the vehicle remained inside the vehicle and that the aviation unit would not be utilized for this incident pursuant to the recommendations of the Sussex County Paramedics. Emergency response personnel from Indian River were assigned to stabilize the vehicle, assist with patient care, establish perimeter security to limit the pedestrian traffic, and monitor the levels of any gases inside the residential structure due to potential damage to the propane storage reservoirs. The driver of the vehicle was transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observations. The Pot Nets Security and the Delaware State Police will continue to evaluate and investigate the incident.
