Sunday, January, 31 2010 @ 09:00 2nd Annual Chiefs Retreat (Mutual Aid Companies with Indian River) Address: 32628 Oak Orchard Road - Millsboro, DE 19966 On Sunday morning at 9 a.m., Chief Steven C. Deery, Jr. hosted Indian River’s Second Annual Chief’s Retreat in Oak Orchard. The invitees included the Chief and all fire line officers from Bethany Beach Fire Company (Station #70); Dagsboro Fire Company (Station #73); Georgetown Fire Company (Station #77); Indian River Fire Company (Station #80); Lewes Fire Department (Station #82), Millsboro Fire Company (Station #83); Milton Fire Department (Station #85); and Rehoboth Beach Fire Company (Station #86). The initial opening of the Chief’s Retreat was a catered breakfast event prepared by the Ladies Auxiliary and officers of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company. An introduction of the new fire line officers from each company was the next order of business discussed. The remaining agenda topics included what was expected of Indian River when responding to emergency incidents within neighboring fire company districts as well as what Indian River expected when neighboring companies responded to incidents in the Indian River fire district. Every company participated in the discussion by identifying how their respective company would respond, what would be responding on a specific incident for provide mutual aid, and what was expected when mutual aid was received. This event was well received and opened up many lines of communication that have and will foster quality working relations with neighboring fire company as well as to ensure efficient incident response criteria for all companies.
