Wednesday January, 27 2010 @ 17:00 Firefighter Ladder Orientation On Wednesday evening, January 27th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company hosted its monthly firefighting training exercises. The topic and agenda were Ladder Truck Orientation and Operations Review. The activities for the evening included, but not limited to, Ladder Truck Response Criteria; Ladder Truck Awareness & Familiarization as well as actual set-up and take down demonstrations with hands-on practice for the drivers and operators of the Ladder Truck. This review also highlighted driver/operator qualifications, duties and responsibilities, and functional awareness items. Each member of the fire company evaluated, reviewed and discussed the Ladder Truck Standard Operating Guidelines and participated in an actual compartmentalized tour of the Ladder Truck in order to become acclimated with the tool and equipment placement. Each driver/operation participated in the aforementioned training exercises and then coordinated truck placement and set-up as well as outrigger placement and awareness, ladder movements and cradling tactics.
