Wednesday December, 30 2009 @ 13:32:37 Nature: Traffic/Transportation Acdnt BLS Address: Hollymount Rd & John J Williams Hwy., Millsboro, DE 19966 On December 30th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a personal injury vehicle collision at the intersection of John J. Williams Highway (Route #24) and Hollymount Road (State Route #48). It was determined that a maroon Ford Expedition was traveling west on John J. Williams Highway and a tan four door Chevrolet Malibu compact sedan was traveling south on Hollymount Road. The Chevrolet sedan failed to remain stopped at the intersection and collided with the Ford Expedition. The occupant of the Chevrolet sedan fled on foot north on Hollymount Road while the occupant of the Expedition required additional medical attention. Chief Steven Deery responded directly to the incident location and requested the closure of John J. Williams Highway for the duration of the event. A standardized traffic detour was established routing traffic around Holly Lake via County Roads #301, #302 and State Route #48. Chief Deery requested assistance with patient stabilization and care, to establish vehicle stabilization measures, to coordinate scene security for additional evaluation by the Delaware State Police, and to initiate vehicle fluid recovery and clean-up. The Delaware State Fire Police and the Delaware Department of Transportation werre called for additional traffic control measures. The Delaware State Police are investigating the incident in more detail.
