Story
Sunday December, 13 2009 @ 22:27:11 Nature: Traffic/Transportation Accident BLS Address: Banks Rd & Green Rd Millsboro, DE 19966 On Sunday evening, December 13th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a personal injury vehicle collision on Banks Road between Green Road and Winding Creek Village. It was reported to have a single vehicle that struck a utility pole, with possible patient entrapment and the utility pole has been severed in half. Deputy Chief Brian Hubbs responded on Rescue 80 and assumed Incident Command pending arrival of the Duty Officer Hayden Klingler. Deputy Chief Hubbs sought the closure of Banks Road for the duration of the incident, inquired about the availability of aviation and requested that a patient assessment and stabilization status as well as a vehicle stabilization update. It was identified that no patient entrapment existed, patient stabilization was secured, aviation would not be needed, and minimal efforts for vehicle stabilization was necessary due to the conditions of the utility pole. Engine #80-5 personnel were requested to coordinate these assignments. The Delaware Electric Cooperative was requested to make a priority response. It appears that a black Chevrolet Blazer was traveling on Banks Road and apparently lost control for an unknown reason and collided with the utility pole. The roadway conditions were slick due to the rainy conditions that existed for the entire day. Vehicle traffic patterns were restricted on Banks Road for the entire duration of the incident including utility pole replacement measures. The Delaware State Fire Police and the Delaware Department of Transportation were required to participate in the incident management efforts. The Delaware State Police are investigating the incident.
