Sunday December, 6 2009 @ 21:02:08 Nature: Traffic / Transportation Acdnt ALS Location: Near Bay woods Address: Banks Rd., Millsboro, DE 19966 On Sunday evening, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a personal injury vehicle accident on Banks Road between the Baywoods Maintenance Shop and Winding Creek Village in the vicinity of the “S” curves. The Delaware State Police Aviation Unit (Trooper #2) was alerted for the incident response as well. It was reported that a single vehicle (White Ford Pick Up Truck)was traveling east on Banks Road and apparently lost control for an unknown reason. The vehicle spun and struck a clump of trees, snapping a tree in half allowing the tree trunk to protrude the passenger compartment of the vehicle. One occupant of the vehicle was entrapped and required various vehicle extrication measures to be implemented. Duty Officer, Hayden Klingler requested that Engine #80-5 initiate a rapid extrication measure to free the occupant of the vehicle. The State Police Trooper 2 Aviation Unit was utilized to transport one of the vehicle’s occupant to Christiana Hospital in Newark, Delaware. The second vehicle occupant was transferred to Beebe Medical Center for additional observations.
