Monday November, 16 2009 @ 11:42:28 Nature: Traffic/Transportation Accident ALS Location: Entrance to the Peninsula Address: 26900-26927 Trinity Rd @ Bay Farm Road, Millsboro, DE 19966 On Monday, November 16th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a personal injury vehicle incident near the entrance of the Peninsula at the intersection of Bay Farm Road and Trinity Road. The incident was reported to be a serious motor vehicle collision with entrapment. It was identified that a Nissan Altima was traveling south on Bay Farm Road near the intersection of Trinity Road and struck various concrete, block and stone pillars for the entrance of the Peninsula. The elderly occupant of the vehicle was trapped and required extensive vehicle extrication measures to be performed. All responding emergency apparatus were delegated with the responsibility to coordinate patient stabilization, vehicle stabilization, scene security, vehicle extrication, as well as preparation of a helicopter landing zone. The Delaware State Police Aviation Unit transported the vehicle occupant to the most appropriate medical institution. The Delaware State Police and their accident reconstruction team were alerted to respond to the incident as well. The incident is pending additional evaluation.
