Nature: Vehicle Accident

On Friday evening, June 22^nd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway in the vicinity of Kick’n Chicken.  It was reported to be two vehicles.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, 80 Command, Engines #80-1 and #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, traffic control, scene mitigation, fluid and debris recovery, and general assistance where needed.

It appears that a Ford SUV was traveling eastbound and a company sedan was traveling westbound when both vehicles collided for unknown reasons.  The sedan careened off the roadway into the Kick’n Chicken parking lot while the Ford SUV continued to travel eastbound losing one of front wheels.

The Delaware State Fire Police provided traffic control assistance with the closure of John J. Williams Highway.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
