Tuesday September, 22 2009 @ 15:53:36 Nature: Traffic/Transportation Acdnt BLS Address: 32720-32777 Long Neck Rd Millsboro, DE 19966 Mid afternoon on Tuesday, September 22nd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a personal injury vehicle collision on Long Neck Road opposite the entrance of Leisure Point. It was reported that a pick-up struck a utility pole causing the pole to snap in two. The emergency response personnel were assigned to coordinate and assist with patient stabilization, if needed, as well as coordinating vehicle stabilization and traffic control measures. The utility pole was energized and hosted substantial high voltage power lines. The Delaware Electric Cooperative was alerted for a priority incident and requested an immediate response. Long Neck Road was closed for the duration of the incident and traffic was detoured with assistance from the Delaware State Fire Police. The Delaware State Police are investigating the incident.
