Sunday September, 13 2009 @ 15:49:19 Nature: Trash Dumpster Fire Location: Hawks Nest Apts. Address: 32156 River Rd, Millsboro, DE 19966 On Sunday afternoon, September 13th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a trash fire at Hawks Nest Apartments on River Road. The dumpster was substantially full with trash and had exposures to a nearby utility shed from an adjoining property. Deputy Chief Brian Hubbs was operating as the Duty Officer for the incident and requested that Engine #80-1 access the apartment complex via the first drive way. Engine #80-1 activated its trash line and its emergency response crew extinquished the fire inside the dumpster. In order to ensure complete extinguishment, the dumpster was filled with water. Tanker 80 was utilized for additional water supply, if needed.
