Thursday September, 3 2009 @ 23:49:24 Nature: Structure Fire Address: 25833 Lingo Dr Millsboro, DE 19966 On Thursday, September 3rd, the Indian River, Millsboro and Lewes fire companies were alerted for a working structure fire at 25833 Lingo Drive in Lingo Estates off Long Neck Road. Responding Indian River firefighters notified our Duty Officer, Chief Steven C. Deery, Jr. of heavy smoke in the area. Chief Deery arrived on scene and provided a quick synopsis of the incident which include heavy smoke showing with extensive fire blowing from side four (4) of a single wide manufactured home. Chief Deery assigned Engine #80-3 to initiate an aggressive fire suppression tactic by advancing a 1 ¾” hose line through the front door of the structure. Engine #80-1 was the next due arriving emergency response apparatus with specific assignments to assist the Engine #3 crew with fire suppression by advancing a second 1 ¾” hose line. Engine #80-5 was assigned to ventilate the structure and initiate overhaul of the residence. Rescue #80 was assigned to enhance scene lighting while Tanker 80 was to coordinate water supply. Manpower resources from Millsboro and Lewes were assigned multi- tasks and assist with fire suppression, scene overhaul and evaluation, and overall incident clean up. The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the incident.
