Wednesday July, 1 2009 @ 02:15:32 Nature: Traffic/Transportation Acdnt BLS Location: Massey’s Landing Boat Ramp Address: 36678 Long Neck Rd Millsboro, DE 19966 Early Wednesday on July 1st at 2:17 a.m., the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a motor vehicle collision at or near the entrance to Massey’s Landing Public Boat Ramp. The Sussex County Emergency Operations Center advised responding apparatus that it was receiving calls that reported hearing a loud collision, screaming and yelling. While enroute to the incident, the Emergency Operations Center was notified that the vehicle was on fire and verified by Fire Police Officer Charles Frampton. Duty Officer Lt. Jacob Adams arrived on the scene and confirmed a one-vehicle collision with the vehicle being engulfed in flames. Engine 80-5, under the direction of Captain Jason M. Faulkner, deployed a fire suppression line and began extinguishment strategies. Engine 80-3 was utilized for additional water supply, while Rescue 80's crew assisted with overhaul of the vehicle. No occupants were injured in the collision. The Delaware State Police are investigating.
