Nature: Washdown (Fuel Spill) Result of Property Damage Vehicle Accident

Early Wednesday morning, April 18^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a washdown assignment as a direct result of a vehicle accident on Long Neck Road near the entrance to Leisure Point.  It was reported to be a single vehicle incident that encountered a significant fluid and debris field.

Emergency response crews from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 and 80 Command from the Long Neck facilities as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, traffic control, as well as fluid and debris clean up.

It appears that a Ford Expedition was traveling on Long Neck Road and struck a utility pole for unknown reasons causing the pole to break.

The Delaware State Fire Police provided traffic control for the duration.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.

The were no reported injuries associated with the incident.
