Nature: Outside Fire
Location: Across From Caswells near White House Beach
Address: 34871 Long Neck Rd Millsboro, DE 19966
On Friday morning, April 13th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for an outside fire on Long Neck Road in the vicinity of Caswell’s and White House Beach. It was reported to be a brush fire alongside the roadway in the area of Fairfield at Long Neck.
Emergency response units from Indian River included Brush #80-00 from the Oak Orchard facility, Brush #80-0, Engines #80-1 and 80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.
Emergency response crew assignments included rapid fire suppression to cease the spread of the fire into nearby residential yards and potential structures and then coordinated saturation and ground cover clean up. The estimated size of the brush fire was 30' x 150' and spreading toward homes in the Mariner’s Cove development.
It appears that the outside brush fire was quickly contained and limited the damage to very minimal concerns, if any. The roadside area was filled with debris, roadside litter, pine needles, brush, and fallen trees which became fuel for the fire.
The Delaware State Fire Police provided traffic control assistance which required the closing for Long Neck Road for various apparatus performing water shuttle assignments
