Nature: Structure Fire
Address: 30200-30409 Lone Palm Way, Spring Breeze, Harbeson, DE 19951
Cross Streets: Ragtop Crsg/Capitan Loop
Early Friday morning, April 13th, the Indian River (80), Millsboro (83), and Milton (85) volunteer fire companies were alerted to assist the Lewes (82) Fire Department with a structure fire on Lone Palm Way in the new residential development of Spring Breeze near Harbeson, Delaware. It was reported to be working structure fire in a new house under construction.
Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as Engines #80-1 and 80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.
Emergency response crew assignments included fire suppression assistance as requested by the Lewes Fire Department Officer In Charge and provided water resource assistance.
Pursuant to the Lewes Fire Department reporting the first arriving unit, a SCEMS paramedic unit, reported that it was a house under construction and fully involved. The fire was driven by strong winds and suppression efforts were hampered by a lack of working fire hydrants in the subdivision as construction is still on-going. A water shuttle was established from the closest working hydrant and the fire was declared under control after approximately 90 minutes. No injuries were reported.
The Delaware State Fire Marshall Office is investigating.
