Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: 34640 Gooseneck St Millsboro, DE 19966

On Thursday morning, April 12^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Gooseneck street in the Pot Nets Bayside development off of Long Neck Road.  It was reported to be a single vehicle with two elderly occupants that could not get out because of the proximity of the vehicle to the residential structure and stairways.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Ladder 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.  Additional resources from the Sussex County Paramedics and the local emergency medical services provider also were alerted.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, evaluation of structural integrity, assistance with patient stabilization, as well as assistance with extrication.

It appears that a silver Chevrolet HHR was attempting to navigate their respective driveway and encountered a situation that resulted in a brief mishap causing the vehicle to become lodged near the residential structure.

The operator of the vehicle was transferred to the nearest medical facility for observation.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
