Morning, January 19 2009 @ 12:14 Nature: Traffic / Transportation Accident ALS Address: River Road @ Pocahontas Avenue Millsboro, DE 19966 Early Monday morning at approximately 12:14 a.m., Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a motor vehicle collision on John J. Williams Highway at or neat the entrance of Sherwood Forest. While being dispatched for this vehicle incident, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a second vehicle incident on River Road in Riverdale. It was reported that a vehicle had struck a telephone pole. Appartus Officer, Eric Ruckle requested that a responding member and a responding fire police officer be redirected to the River Road incident for clarification and update of the incident status. Upon arrival of emergency response personnel, it was identified that the Ford Ranger Pick-up was traveling east on River Road near Pocahontas Avenue and struck a telephone pole. The impact of the incident caused the vehicle to spin sideways into the roadway blocking all traffic on River Road. It was identified that this would be a personal injury vehicle incident as opposed to a property damage vehicle incident. All emergency apparatus responded to the second incident after being cleared from the Sherwood Forest event. The vehicle's occupant from the Sherwood Forest event has departed from the scene prior to arrival of emergency response personnel. Emergency response personnel were assigned to initiate vehicle stabilization, continue patient care, and commence with scene clean up and await the towing company. The vehicle occupant of the River Road incident was transported to the local medical facility for observation. The Delaware State Police are investigating this incident. The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company notified the various utility companies of the incident. Story By: Brian Hubbs
