Nature: Structure Fire

Location: 34534 Broad Water Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Thursday morning, January 25th, the Indian River (80), Lewes (82), and Millsboro (83) fire companies were alerted for a residential structure fire on Broadwater Road in the Pot Nets Bayside development off of Long Neck Road.  It was reported to have a smoke condition emitting from a residential manufactured home.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engines #80-1 and #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.  Additional resources were alerted from the Sussex County Paramedics, the local emergency medical services provider, and the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office.

Emergency response crew assignments included immediate fire suppression activities for an external attack only and preservation of nearby properties from further heat and fire damage.  Engine #80-3 arrived and reported a heavy fire condition and all other apparatus provided water resources and fire suppression manpower to control the situation.

It appears that the residential manufactured home was fully involved with fire upon arrival of fire suppression apparatus and resources.  The residential homeowner was not a home at the time of the incident and the Delaware State Fire Marshal is investigating.

There were no reported civilian or firefighter injuries.
