Nature: Assist Rehoboth Beach – Structure Fire
Location: 35100-35199 Maple Lane Lewes, DE 19958
On Thursday evening, December 28th, the Indian River (80) and Lewes (82) fire departments were alerted to assist Rehoboth Beach (86) with a structure fire in West Bay Park off of Angola Road. It originally was reported as a golf cart fire and upgraded to multiple trailers, recreational campers and storage sheds with propane tanks venting.
Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facilities and Engine #801 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.
Emergency response crew assignments included fire suppression activities and assist Rehoboth Beach were needed.
Due to the frigid cold temperatures other standby and cover-up assignments were requested immediately while apparatus where enroute to the original incident location.
The Delaware State Fire Marshall is investigating.

Crews Put Out Fire in West Bay Park

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. -- Fire crews put out a structural fire in West Bay Park Thursday night.
According to the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company, crews were dispatched to a vehicle fire on Maple Lane in the park at around 7 p.m. Shortly after, the call was upgraded to a structural fire where three structures and a golf cart were on fire. Firefighters and crews from the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Company, the Lewes Fire Department, the Indian River Fire Company and Sussex County Paramedics contained the fire to the original structure with minor damage.
Fire officials said the crew remained on scene in 20-degree weather for an hour as they completed putting out the fire and overhauling the structures. No injuries were reported in the incident.
