Story
On Sunday morning, October 28, 2007, the Community Church of Oak Orchard hosted a Firefighter Appreciation Service for volunteers of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company. This annual event is scheduled during the month of October to coincide with the Fire Prevention Month. The 11 a.m. Church Service was officiated by Rev. J. Allen Miller, who serves as the Chaplain of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company and is the Pastor of the Community Church. Rev. Miller presented Chief Steven C. Deery, Jr. with an acknowledgement on behalf of the community to the volunteer fire company. Patrick Miller, President of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company provided Richard Poole with an acknowledgement for his services when assisting fire prevention initiatives within the communities of Oak Orchard/Long Neck by participating in the distribution of smoke detectors. After the service, the Community Church provided a luncheon in recognition of the volunteer firefighters. The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company expresses its appreciation for these accolades.
