Nature: Trailer Fire

Location: 28517 Okwaw Ave., Riverdale Park, Millsboro, DE 19966

On Tuesday afternoon, the Indian River (80), Millsboro (83), and Lewes (82) fire departments were alerted for a residential trailer fire on Okwaw Avenue in Riverdale Park.  It was reported to be a within the floor joists and/or wall areas of the structure.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 and Incident Command 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. 

Emergency response crew assignments included fire suppression, ventilation, and evaluation.  Within minutes of the initial dispatch the call was downgraded to Indian River units only arriving officers found a smoke condition within the structure.  Additional efforts to locate the source were underway. 

It is believed to be an electrical issue within the floor joint and wall area of the structure.  The electrical service was disconnected pending additional evaluation. 

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Fire Marshall is investigating.
