Story
On Wednesday, April 5, 2006, at 11:12 a.m., the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a woods fire on Cannon Road in the area of Friendship Road. Upon the arrival of Deputy Chief Brian Hubbs, it was identified that approximately one acre of wooded land was on fire. Furthermore, the fire was rapidly advancing due to high winds and excessively dry conditions. For this reason, the Millsboro Fire Company (Station 83) was requested for a brush truck, an engine, and a tanker assist. Arriving brush trucks aggressively attacked the fire and were able to stop any further forward progression of the fire. Extensive overhaul was needed due to the high winds and conditions. This incident is under investigation by the Delaware State Fire Marshals Office.
