Nature: Narcan Training

Location: Station #1 Oak Orchard

On Thursday evening, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company hosted an additional training to acclimate and train our first responders with the proper usage of Narcan.

NARCAN - Nasal Spray is a prescription medicine used for the treatment of an opioid emergency such as an overdose or a possible opioid overdose with signs of breathing problems and severe sleepiness or not being able to respond.

NARCAN is to be given right away and does not take the place of emergency medical care.

The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company has traditionally assisted with certain medical emergencies within our fire district and has responded to numerous incidents which needed NARCAN products.  Therefore, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company has acquired the supplies and provided the training for our first responders.
