Story
On Friday, March 3, 2006, at approximately 2:11 a.m., the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a serious motor vehicle accident on Banks Road near the entrance of Winding Creek Village. Upon arrival of First Assistant Chief Ryan Mock, it was identified that a single vehicle left the southbound traffic lane, ran through a white PVC fencing and had struck a tree with one female occupant still inside the vehicle. Engine 80-5, under the command of Deputy Chief Brian P. Hubbs, arrived and was assigned to begin vehicle stabilization and prepare for extrication of the occupant. Rescue 80, under the command of Chief Steven C. Deery, Jr., arrived and was assigned to assist with the extrication of the vehicles occupant. The Delaware State Police Aviation Unit, Trooper 2, transported the occupant of the vehicle to Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, MD. The 21 volunteer firefighters from the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company were in service for approximately 1 hour and 4 minutes
