Story
Today was the start of Fire Prevention Week activities with the students at Long Neck Elementary School. We started to prepare Engine 80-7 for fire truck rides for 1st Grade Students but the weather did not cooperate. A steady drizzle caused us to postpone the ride until some time next week. We did visit each Kindergarten and Pre-K class to teach The Firefighter Is Your Friend. We explained a dress uniform and when it is worn. We also explained turnout gear and showed what a Firefighter looks and sounds like after he puts on his equipment. We discussed the Firefighter Is your Friend and that you should always go to the Firefighter. We discussed smoke detectors and to get out right away to a safe meeting place when the smoke detector sounds. The students learneed and practiced Stop, Drop, and Roll.
