Story
At 3:29 AM on Thursday, September 8, we were dispatched, along with Station 82 Lewes, to the report of a working structure fire at 33962 Indy Way, Leisure Point. On arrival, a small fire was found on a screened in deck and Station 82 was returned. The fire was quickly extinguished with only a small amount of damage to one corner of the deck. Although smoke detectors inside the residence were working properly, they did not activate as no smoke entered the structure. The residents were awakened by their family dog, "Peanut", and escaped uninjured. The fire is under investigation by the Delaware State Fire Marshal's Office. Thirty-one firefighters were in service for one hour and seven minutes under the direction of Incident Commander Steven Deery Jr. and Operations Officer Brian Hubbs for this incident.
