Please be advised that an Active Volunteer Firefighter of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company has been diagnosed with a terminal illness. Robert "Clarke" Brittingham, Sr. of Long Neck and formerly of Georgetown has been diagnosed with an extremely aggressive type of lung cancer that is considered terminal. Clarke has been an extremely valuable asset to our organization and community. Clarke assisted with the development and deployment of our marine units and other fire apparatus enhancements. Clarke was a former Town of Georgetown Police Officer and is a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #2. The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company is hosting a Beef and Beverage function in Oak Orchard to raise needed resources for the Brittingham family. On Saturday, August 20, 2005, our Beef & Beverage Event will commence at 6 p.m. with a silent auction being conducted through 8 p.m. An actual auction will commence immediately thereafter. Entertainment will be provided as well. Tickets for this fundraising event are $15 per person advance sales or $20 per person at the door.
