Story
At 2:07 AM on February 12, we were dispatched to the Back Bay Shopping Center at Route 24 and Bay Farm Road for a service call. State Police on location reported water coming from the building. On arrival, there was water flowing from the front doors of 4 businesses Cassellas, Parts Plus, Tobacco Store, and the Laundromat. The crew sent to check the rear discovered water flowing from several rear doors, particularly the door to the service room where water service enters the building. When the door to this room was opened, it was discovered that a water line was broken. Due to the location of the broken line, water service had to be shut off to the entire building. Tidewater Utility was requested and responded. After the water was shut off, firefighters assisted the shop owners with water removal. Second Assistant Chief George Bixby directed 17 firefighters who spent 3 hours and 7 minutes on the scene.
