State of Delaware Grant-In-Aid Budget Cuts to Volunteer Fire Companies could impact safety & services
The Delaware Legislature's Budget-Writing Committee, the Joint Finance Committee, has voted to eliminate spending next year for annual packages of grants to nonprofit agencies, which include the volunteer fire service within the State of Delaware. Many Delaware Volunteer Fire Companies, State and County Volunteer Firefighters’ Associations are speaking out against these proposed funding cuts which would significantly affect the services volunteer fire companies can provide across the county and state. Pursuant to recent communications and 2015 and 2016 Annual Auditor’s Report illustrating the cost financial reports issued by the Delaware Auditor of Accounts is estimated to be approximately $193 million annually Please review the attached articles for additional information and contact your respective State Senator and State Representative to voice your concern about the proposed budget cuts and funding decline to the volunteer fire service.
