Nature: Vehicle Accident Possibly Serious

Location: 34914-36053 Long Neck Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Thursday afternoon, May 11th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for vehicle accident involving a single vehicle and reported entrapment on Long Neck Road between Fairfield and Mariner's Cove.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as Rescue 80 and Utility 80-11 from the Oak Orchard facility.

Emergency response crew assignments were to prepare for vehicle extrication because of reported heavy entrapment, assist with vehicle stabilization, traffic control, and scene preservation. The Delaware State Fire Police were ordered to close Long Neck Road for an undetermined amount of time.

It appears that a silver Dodge Caliber was traveling on Long Neck Road approaching Mariner’s Cove and left the roadway striking a tree.  The occupant was trapped inside the vehicle and was extricated prior to arrival of emergency response units from Indian River.  The vehicle suffered significant damage and remained on the roadway surface.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated their respective assignments.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.

Additional information will be published as it become available.
