Nature: Vehicle Accident

On Monday evening April 10th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident in the vicinity of Rudder Road off of Banks Road. It was reported to be a single vehicle into a telephone pole.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, incident stabilization, traffic control for the duration of the incident.

It appears that a black 4-door compact sedan was traveling on Banks Road and lost control striking a utility pole. Banks Road was closed for the duration of the incident prompting a detour situation. Banks Road was designated as a primary detour route during the roadway closure of the John J. Williams Highway.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control pending arrival of the Delaware Department of Transportation.

The Delaware State Police are investigating the incident.
