Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: River Rd and Chief Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Sunday afternoon, October 16th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on River Road in the vicinity of Chief’s Road. It was reported to be a motorcycle incident and a roadway sign.

Emergency response apparatus from Indian River include Rescue 80 and Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as Brush #80-0 from the Long Neck facility. Additional services from the Delaware State Fire Police and the local emergency services provider.

Emergency response crew assignment include incident stabilization as to determining the whereabouts of the motorcyclist, traffic control, and scene preservation.

It appears that a black Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling east on River Road and failed to successful navigate an extremely sharp curve, losing control and striking a tree and street sign post. The motorcyclist has fled the incident location prior to arrival of any emergency response personnel.

The Delaware State Fire Police provided traffic control assistance for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Aviation Unit was providing aerial support for the incident investigation.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
