Nature: Vehicle Accident

On Thursday, September 29th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway at Oak Orchard Road. It was reported to be two vehicles and potentially minor injuries.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, patient stabilization, traffic control, and incident mitigation efforts.

It appears that a white Ford Escape SUV was traveling north on Oak Orchard Road and collided with a silver Ford Escape SUV that was traveling eastbound on John J. Williams Highway. Both vehicles sustained damage which rendered the vehicles not able to be driven.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident with the westbound traffic patterns being disturbed.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
