Nature: Vehicle Accident Possibly Serious

Location: John J Williams Hwy and Piaffre Lane, Millsboro, DE 19966

On Thursday morning, August 11st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway, west of Oak Orchard Road. It was reported potentially serious.

Emergency response units from Indian River include Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility; Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility, as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew were assigned to assist with traffic control and possibly would need a door pop maneuver completed. The fire police were requested to close John J. Williams Highway.

It appears that KIA sedan was traveling west on John J. Williams Highway when for an unknown reason the car strayed to the shoulder coming to a controlled slowed stop before striking a split rail fence. The occupant of the vehicle was experiencing a medical condition that required emergency response personnel to break the windows to gain access.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
