Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: 26582 John J Williams Hwy Millsboro, DE 19966

On Thursday morning, July 7th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident in the vicinity Morning View Lane on John J. Williams Highway. It was reported to be two vehicles.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included assistance with patient stabilization where needed, vehicle stabilization, scene mitigation and traffic control, as well as incident clean-up from debris and fluid leaks.

It appears that both vehicles were heading eastbound on John J. Williams Highway when a maroon KIA attempted to slow in the traffic in preparation for a possible turn or turning vehicle. A black Chrysler struck the rear of the KIA. Both vehicles suffered damage.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated the closure of John J. Williams Highway for the initial phases of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
