Nature: Vehicle Accident Possibly Serious

Location: Trapped / On Fire 27324 John J Williams Hwy Millsboro, DE 19966

Early Saturday morning, June 25th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway in the vicinity of Gull Point Road. It was reported to be a single vehicle accident with occupants trapped, vehicle on fire with utility pole and wires down. Additional emergency medical resources were alerted from the Delaware State Aviation Unit, the Sussex County Paramedics, as well as Millsboro EMS and local EMS providers.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility; Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility, as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments include incident mitigation with traffic control, vehicle stabilization if needed, and notification that the vehicle was not on fire, the occupants were not trapped and additional resources other than on-scene apparatus could return to quarters.

It appears that a black KIA SUV was traveling on John J. Williams Highway and left the roadway for an unknown reason striking a utility pole and parked marine vessel. The vehicle did overturn as part of the incident mishap.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
