Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: John J Williams Hwy and Brandywood Circle, Millsboro, DE 19966

Early Tuesday March 15th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway in the vicinity of the Brandywood development. It was reported to be a vehicle versus a utility pole with wires down and roadway obstructions.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility, as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, patient stabilization, if needed, traffic control, etc.

It appears that a Chevrolet truck was traveling westbound on John J. Williams Highway and left the roadway for an unknown reason striking a utility pole. The utility pole was severed leaving the wires and equipment on the ground.

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted the Delaware State Police with traffic control. This segment of the John J. Williams Highway was closed for an extended period of time.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.

Pick-up truck knocks down pole in Angola area; no injuries

A crash in the Angola area brings down a pole and wires, and closes a portion of Route 24 for hours.

Delaware State Police say the driver of the westbound pick-up truck that smashed into the pole near the Brandywood community early Tuesday morning was not injured.

However, the driver was charged with inattentive driving.

The accident and repairs impacted traffic for more than nine hours.

The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company also responded.
