Great Futures Awards - Leolga T. Wright

Leolga is a retired federal employee with 33 years of service to the farmers in Sussex County and a graduate of Sussex Central High School.

Giving of herself for others is a very notable characteristic of Leolga. Upon retirement, she wasted no time in devoting more of her time to volunteerism. She can be seen delivering meals for Meals on Wheels, participating in the many functions of the Indian River Fire Company and Ladies Auxiliary, serving of various committees at Indian Mission Church and with the Nanticoke Indian Tribe. Leolga is a member of the Board of Education for the Indian River School District and a board member of the Christian Storehouse. She was recently appointed to the Community Involvement Advisory Council by Governor Jack Markell.

Leolga is a volunteer firefighter with Indian River Fire Company where she also is an officer and life member. Helping other is what Leolga enjoys doing most; she is always willing to lend a helping hand where needed. Her love for children is evident through the countless hours dedicated at the Oak Orchard Boys & Girls Club; from baking cookies for our Club’s kids at Christmas to seeking funding to help support the Clubs programs.

Leolga is a native Sussex Countian and resides in the Oak Orchard area with her husband Dallas, and son Tyler.
