Nature: Structure Fire

Location: 31706-31799 Legion Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Tuesday afternoon, January 26, the Indian River (80), Millsboro (83), and Lewes (82) fire companies were alerted for a structure fire on Legion Road in the vicinity of John J. Williams Highway.

Emergency response units from Indian River included: Chief 80, Rescue 80 and Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility; Engine #80-3 and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility, as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. Additional resources from the local emergency medical service provider and the Sussex County Paramedics were assigned.

Emergency response crew assignments included incident mitigation, traffic control, and utility service evaluation, and fire suppression activity.  Some responding units were re-assigned to provide standby cover up assignments at Indian River's stations.

It is believed that the fire was isolated to the crawl space and exterior wall area.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Fire Marshall’s Office is investigating.
