Nature: Structure Fire

Location: 2 Bryan Dr., Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971

On Sunday afternoon, November 22nd, the Indian River (80) and Rehoboth Beach (86) volunteer fire companies were alerted to assist Lewes (82) Fire Department with a structure fire on Bryan Drive ion the development of Midway Estates. It was reported to be a working alarm.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility and Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included to provide assistance to Lewes and Rehoboth Beach crews with ventilation, fire suppression, overhaul, and other tasks as needed.

Initial arriving units advised of heavy smoke and fire coming from the residential structure.

It appears that the residential occupants were not a home at the time of the initial calls and that the fire impacted the basement and first floor living quarters of the residential structure. It was also reported that the family pets may have perished during the incident. It was also reported that an extensive overhaul task was needed to ensure complete extinguishment of the fire in the basement, crawl space, and floor joist areas.

The Delaware State Fire Police provided traffic control and pedestrian accessibility to a minimum during the incident.

The Delaware State Fire Marshall is investigating.
