Nature: Fire Prevention Program - Day #3 – Long Neck Elementary School

City: Millsboro

On Thursday, October 22nd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company continued the implementation of its newest fire prevention program at the Long Neck Elementary School. The purpose of the program is to enhance awareness of fire prevention measures and develop methods amongst school child to identify dangers of fire.

The fire prevention theme for 2015 is “Hear the Beep Where You Sleep: Every Bedroom Needs a Working Smoke Alarm.”

This day activities included students from the third grade classrooms. Program activities included some of the following activities:

o Apparatus Awareness;

o 911 Call Demonstration;

o To Become a Firefighter (exercise);

o Help Call 9-1-1 Workbook Hear the Beep Where Sleep / Smoke Alarm Exercise;

o Fire Muster / Sign Event; and

o Hear the Beep Where you Sleep Workbook.
