Nature: Appliance Fire

Location: 26274 Crows Nest Court West, Millsboro, DE 19966

On Wednesday morning, September 23rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a residential appliance fire on Crows Nest Court West in the Rehoboth Shores development off of Long Neck Road. It was reported to be an oven fire.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included residential evaluation with thermal imaging cameras, investigated the initial complaint, performed positive pressure ventilation, and assisted with incident clean up.

It appears that the occupant was attempting to warm up bagels when the oven began emitting flames from the top and door area. The occupants quickly shut off the oven and vacated the structure calling 9-1-1.

The residential structure was turned back over the owner.
